Built over fifty years ago, the walls and patio surface of the original terrace were failing. The redesign strove for simplicity.
The steps were turned to improve the circulation and the patio area. Walls are structural and reinforced with geo-grid. The existing brick retaining wall was repaired and proper drainage added. A wide planting bed was added around the perimeter to create privacy and sense of place. Simple sandblast pavers complement the architecture. Hazelnut, gray dogwood and other native shrubs were planted to screen the retaining wall and under planted with sedges and other native groundcovers to create a naturalized planting.
