Cowling Arboretum Corridor Master Plan, Carleton College, Northfield, MN

A new recreation center at Carleton College prompted the need for a landscape master plan, to integrate the new facility with the surrounding arboretum. The arboretum also saw the opportunity to make itself more visible as student and staff pass through the arboretum on way to the new center. While working for Barr Engineering, Carmen Simonet was hired by Carleton College to develop the plan.

Project Highlights include: a multi-use trail system, historically important areas marked with interpretation, trailhead kiosks and a planting design modeled after native plant communities which helps widen the corridor for wildlife.

Services: Site analysis, concept design, meeting facilitation and presentations, graphic rendering and design implementation.
