Hi-Lake Shopping Center, Minneapolis, MN

In 2004, Hi-Lake Shopping Center was renovated by Wellington Management. The facelift included a new parking lot layout with a central pedestrian axis connecting Lake Street to the existing stores.

Carmen Simonet Design LLC worked with the architect to develop planting plans and specifications for the project phases. In addition to selecting plants for salt tolerance and the ability to withstand compaction, the Hi-Lake plan followed city landscape requirements and went through a city review process. The successful planting includes swamp white oak, Carefree Beauty shrub rose, Gro-low sumac and Tor spirea.
